Miscellaneous Information
Francis was born on 21 November 1919 at Regina, Saskatchewan. Thomas was a farmer born at Cave, Illinois, USA and his wife was born in Viola, Illinois. Both American citizens. The natural father of Francis was a Harry Bloomfield. Francis attended Public School 1927-1935 followed by Gray High School 1935-1938 (part grade 12 ). He worked for six months as a garage mechanic in Venice, California between December and May. Unfortunately no year shown so probably between leaving school and enlisting on 20 June 1940. No occupation shown for Canada. The sports he enjoyed were hockey and baseball. |
After enlisting in 1940 he is next shown leaving Canada on 2 March 1941, then 21 OTU on 15 March 1941 followed by No. 1 S.S. 3 April 1941, 22 OTU on 21 June 1941 and 405 Squadron 11 October 1941. Francis was to lose his life on 10 August 1942. |
Gave his citizenship as Canadian on his enlistment papers, and his parents as American. |
