Reason for Loss | Originally thought to have ditched off Rottum in the Frisian Islands but recent research has revealed that the last contact with the aircraft was at about 100 miles from the English coast on the return leg. After contact was lost a search was mounted to no avail. The only logical explanation is that they must have ditched and drifted together for over 2 weeks before the bodies washed ashore close together. The German post mortem report for Reg Gerry states that his body could not have been in the water for very long. |
