Miscellaneous Information
Douglas was born on 17 May 1923 at Shaunavon , Saskatchewan. His father, born in Scotland, worked at a Briquette Plant in Bienfait and his mother was born in the USA. He had one sister, Margery Isobel. He attended Shaunavon Public School 1928-1939. The sports he took part in were hockey and basketball. Douglas worked as a Watchman at CPR Shaunavon 1939-1942. On 27 April 1942 Douglas then enlisted. |
After training he was sent to the U.K. and embarked from New York on 4 May 1943 arriving at 3PRC on 12 May. He then went to 30 OTU on 18 May 1943, 1651 CU on 23 July 1943 and 218 Squadron on 18 August 1943. Douglas sadly then lost his life on 9 October 1943. |
