Miscellaneous Information
Allan was born on 30 August 1920 at Ridgeville , Manitoba. Both parents were born in Poland. He had five brothers: Joe, Ernest, Stanley, Lawrence and Ralph and one married sister. He went to Ridgeville School in Manitoba 1927-1936 and his main sport interests were hockey and baseball. Allan worked as a clerk with his father Michael who ran a General Store from 1936-1941 when he enlisted on 2 December 1941. |
After training he arrived in the U.K. at 3PRC on 15 March 1944 then went on to 22 OTU 21 March 1944, 61 Base 11 June 1944, 426 Sqn 13 July 1944 and 405 Squadron on 10 August 1944. Allan sadly lost his life on 9 February 1945. |

Operation | Politz- to mark a synthetic oil plant- second wave. 482 aircraft, 12 lost (2.5%). Weather conditions were clear and both waves were highly accurate, causing massive damage to the plant and putting it out of action for the remainder of the war. Albert Speer mentioned this attack in his post-war interrogations as causing a significant impact to the German war effort. |
