Miscellaneous Information
Myron was born on 15 August 1920 at Oshawa, Ontario. His parents were both born in the Ukraine, Russia and his father had worked as a Moulder. He had two brothers both of whom were serving in the RCAF. Anthony was a Corporal and the other, Joe, was a Pilot Officer. The schools he attended were Cedardale, Oshowa, 1926-1932 (Entrance), Oshawa Collegiate 1932-1939, (Senior Matric), Oshawa Collegiate and Vocational Inst. 1932-1933 (general), and night School at Oshawa C and VI. 1939-1940. Myron’s sport interests were mainly rugby and basketball and he also enjoyed tracking and swimming. His hobby was building model aircraft. He worked as a clerk in a Shipping room, 1937-1937, and again 1939-1940, as a plaster mixer, 1938-1938 and then worked in Export Shipping for General Motors 1941-1941. |
Myron then enlisted on 20 August 1941 and at the end of his training embarked for the U.K. on 23 June 1943. He arrived at 3PRC on 2 July 1943 and then went through 5 AOS 19 October 1943, 31 Base 17 March 1944 and on to 90 Squadron on 18 May 1944. Sadly Myron was to lose his life on 29 July 1944. |
