Leslie was born on 16 July 1913 in Aberdare, Wales. His father was born in York, England and was a buyer/manager at Ogilvy’s Ltd. and his mother was also born in Newport, Wales. Leslie had a sister Kathleen. After memigrating to Canada, they lived at Berwick Avenue, Mount Royal, Montreal. The schools Leslie attended were the Royal Albert, Kensington. 1920-1927. West Hill High 1927-1931 (Science) and McGill University , 1932-1933 (Accounting). He also went to the Insurance Institute of Montreal 1934-1935. His sport interests were swimming, skating, and softball and his hobbies, car mechanics and repairs. He worked as a chauffeur and office assistant between 1932-1934, as a bookkeeper for the Great American Insurance Co.of New York, 1934-1940 and was a junior accountant at Alfred Walford & sons from 1940- until enlistment on 22 June 1940. |

Operation | Hanover- the first of four large raids. 711 aircraft, 26 losses (3.7%). Five American B-17s also took part. Visibility was good but strong winds hampered the marking efforts and consequently the bombing by the main force. No local report is available but it is unlikely that significant damage was caused. |
