Miscellaneous Information
| Henry George Evitt was born on 5th May 1914 at Witham, Essex. He was baptised on 14 Jun 1914 at St Nicholas Church, Witham, Essex. His father was a farmer and a stocks and shares dealer. Henry was the youngest of four. He had a brother Percy ‘Bill’ Clifford Evitt (1903-1987) who did not attend Felsted School, and two sisters Ann Joan Lilley Evittt (1907-1987) and Susie Mary Evitt (1909-1988). Henry attended Felsted School 1924-1931. He first went to Felsted Preparatory School before entering Stock’s House at Felsted School. |
| Felsted School Obituary entry: "George will be remembered by his contemporaries as a rather diminutive person, who made up for his lack of stature by his cheerfulness and large heartedness. On leaving school he studied chemistry and later managed a fruit farm. He received a short service commission in the RAF in 1938 and was killed in action in June 1940.” |
