Miscellaneous Information
Stewart was born at Desoronto, Ontario on 17 September 1920. His father was born at Fergus, Ontario and was a dentist and his mother was born at Newton, Ontario. He had three brothers, Kenneth , Raymond and William. The schools Stewart attended were Isabella 1926-1934, Fort William 1934-1937 and Ravencourt Boys School 1937-1939. Stewart also went to the Ontario Veterinary College at Guelph 1939–1940. His sport interests were boxing, basketball, hockey, rugby and horsemanship. Horses were his hobby. Stewart worked at the Dominion Bank , Fort William as a junior during August-September 1939. |
He enlisted on 29 June 1940 and after initial training was posted to the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 26 September 1944. He was then at 61 Base 31 October 1944 and 415 Squadron on 12 November 1944. Stewart was sadly to lose his life from 415 Squadron on 6 January 1945. |

Operation | Hanau. 482 aircraft, 6 losses. Hanau contained an important junction in the German railway system. Many bombs hit the area directly around the target but also many were scattered across the town. The local report states that about 40% of the town was destroyed with 90 deaths. |
