Attended Bablake School and named on memorial scroll. The school's magazine, 'The Wheatleyan', records that Neville received a Bablake Major Scholarship, Coventry Major Scholarship and Higher School Certificate in 1938. Whilst at School he showed an interest in architecture, music, cycling and swimming. Neville's intention to further his education was reflected in his recommendation from the Headmaster, E. A. Seaborne: "I can recommend Neville John Dusson to the College authorities with the greatest confidence, for I hold the highest opinion of his present achievement and his future possibilities. His manner and appearance make him acceptable in any society. Behind all that he does is the enthusiastic driving force of his ambition, and I can think of no type that would respond more suitably to the opportunities of a University career or be more welcome as a recruit to the priesthood. I hope to see him do as well as he deserves". Neville furthered his education by attending Keble College at Oxford from 11 October 1938 to July 1941. The Wheatleyan, March 1940, noted "Mr. Dusson has returned to Keble, and is much puzzled by the ways of the RAF". Whilst at Keble he was awarded a Batchelor of the Arts in Modern History, 3rd Class Honours, and attended his graduation ceremony on 28 February 1942. Joining the RAFVR, Neville was promoted to Pilot Officer on probation 10 November 1942 and Flying Officer on 10 May 1943. |
