Miscellaneous Information
James was born at Toronto on 20 January 1914. His father was born at Belleville, Ontario and he was the president of Teasdall’s Ltd. His mother was born at Toronto and sadly died in 1921. He had one sister, Margaret. The schools he attended, both in Toronto, were Runnymede, 1920-1929 (Entrance) and Runnymede High, 1929-1932.(Matric) His sport interests were sailing and golf. James worked at Teasdall’s clothes shop as a junior salesman between 1932-1942. |
After enlisting on 23 July 1942 and initial training, James embarked from Halifax on 22 October 1943, arriving at 3 (RCAF) PRC on 31 October 1943. He then went on to 3 (0) AFU 25 January 1944, 19 OTU 7 March 1944, 41 Base 25 May 1944 and 640 Squadron 20 July 1944. James sadly died the following month on 25 August 1944, having been commissioned two days earlier. |
