Miscellaneous Information
Jack was born on 18 July 1912 at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Both parents were born in Truro, Nova Scotia and his father worked as a Trainman. The schools he attended were Public School 1919-1927, Colchester County Academy 1927-1930 (general), N.S. College of agriculture, 1937-1938, (Science). He worked as an apprentice 1930-1933 and then as a drug clerk 1933-1935, 1937-1939 and 1939-1940. During 1935 he had also worked as a yacht hand. His sport interests were baseball and tennis and his hobby was photography. |
Jack enlisted on 27 June 1940 and after basic training was sent to the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 20 June 1941. He went on to 22 OTU on 22 June 1941, 104 Sqn 22 August 1941 and 405 Squadron on 23 August 1941. It was from there that Jack sadly lost his life on 28 December 1941. |
