Miscellaneous Information
| Fernand was born on 30 November 1923 at Winnipeg Manitob. His father deceased was a labourer born in Yorkshire England and his mother was born in Paris France. He had a brother Sydney Joseph sister Madeleine and after his mother re-married a step sister Chrissie Germaine (Kember). The schools he attended were: Britannia Public 1930 -1938 Hugh John MacDonald 1938-1939 and then Daniel McIntyre for a few months in 1939 to gain matriculation grade 11. His sport interests were roller skating hockey and swimming and his hobby making model aeroplanes. Fernand worked for W.H. Legge Winnipeg as a delivery and engraving apprentice 1940-1941 and then for D. P. Mann furniture Store 1941-1942 as a Collector. He then enlisted on 8 June 1942. |
| After training Fernand was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Halifax on 25 March 1944. He arrived at 3PRC on 3 April 1944 then went to 82 OTU 25 April 1944 61 Base 16 July 1944 and arrived at 424 Squadron on 25 August 1944. Sadly Fernand lost his life the following year on 12 January 1945. |
