Operation | Stuttgart. 314 aircraft, 11 losses (3.5%). PFF claimed accurate marking but the Germans used decoy markers for the first time. Consequently, most of the bombs fell on open countryside. |
Reason for Loss | Shot down by a night-fighter (Me 100) at 15000' and crashed at Chalons sur Marne, France. All the crew survived, all except two becoming PoWs. Sgt Dmytruk evaded capture and is said to have joined up with the Maquis and died in combat |
