Miscellaneous Information
Albert was born on 7 December 1919 at Estevan, Saskatchewan. Both parents were born in Lancashire, England and his father worked as a Road-master for C.N.R. He had one married sister Ellen and four brothers. Frederick, Sydney, Harry (who was with the RCMP) and Ernie who was serving with the RCAF. He attended Estevan and Radville schools between 1925-1933 followed by Central Collegiate at Moose Jaw 1933-1935 (grade X). He occasionally played softball and hockey and woodwork was his hobby . He had no work between 1935-1938. He was then a labourer for C.N.Rail between 1938-1939, and then worked as a Scaler for Swift Canadian at Moose Jaw 1939- 1942. |
Albert enlisted on 29 June 1942 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from New York on 5 January 1943 and arrived at 3PRC on 13 January, 7 AGS 24 February 1943, 1659 CU 10 March 1943 and 427 Squadron on 3 May 1943. Sadly Albert lost his life from 427 Squadron the following month on 13 June 1943. |
