Miscellaneous Information
Walter was born in Montreal on 27 September 1924. His father was born in Montreal and was President Of Pigment and Chemicals and his mother was born in Toronto. He had one brother, Robert. He attended public school between 1930-1938 and was then at West Hill High 1938-1942 where he studied Science. From 1942 onwards he was at McGill University, studying Pre-Engineering. Walter enjoyed playing tennis, baseball, hockey football and swimming. His hobby was model aircraft. |
After training he was posted to the U.K. and embarked from Halifax on 16 June 1944. Walter arrived at 3 (RCAF) PRC on 25 June 1944, 61 Base on 29 September 1944 and 431 Squadron on 7 December 1944. Sadly at the age of 20 years Walter lost his life on 21 February 1945. |
