| Reason for Aircraft Loss | Thought to have been involved in a mid-air collision with Halifax NP723. Crashed at Jackstede, 7km WSW of Wittmund, Germany. The crew that died were originally buried at Wittmund Military Cemetery before re-burial in 1947 at Sage War Cemetery. Flt Sgt Kemp survived and was taken prisoner. His real name was W Kempka and was from Poland, serving as T W M Kemp. MZ299 was on its 50th operation. |
