Miscellaneous Information
George was born on 25 February 1924 at Montreal, Québec. His father worked as a Motor Mechanic and was born in London, England and his mother was born in Dundee, Scotland. He had one sister Jean Isabell. He attended Barclay School, 1931-1937 (Elementary) and Montreal and Lennoxville 1937-1941 (third year High). He attained High School Entrance and Junior Matric. The sports he played were basketball and hockey. His hobby, photography and model aeroplanes. George worked as a Clerk for Canadian Ingersoll Rand, Sherbrooke from 1941 onwards and around this time he was also serving in the Air Cadets at Sherbrooke. |
He enlisted on 23 June 1942 and after training embarked from Halifax on 24 November 1943. He reached the U.K. and 3 PRC(RAF) on 2 December 1943, 15 (P)AFU 4 April 1944, 24 OTU 27 June 1944 and 408 Squadron 10 December 1944. The following year on 7 March 1945, George very sadly lost his life shortly after his 21st birthday. |
