Miscellaneous Information
Henry was born on 10 June 1917 in Grimsby, Ontario. His father was born in Carrick-on-Shannon, Ireland and worked as Secretary-Treasurer, at Stuart Bros. Company in Montreal. His mother was born in Liverpool and had died in 1938. They lived at 132 Edison Avenue, St. Lambert. He had a brother John Campbell and sisters Charlotte, Margaret, Norah and Meriel. The schools which Henry attended were: St. Lambert High School. 1924-1931 (Grades 1-8); St.Lambert High School 1931-1936 (Grades 8-11); Monument Nationale 1937-1938 (Art and French) and McGill College 1939-1940 (Intermediate maths) His sport interests were skiing, swimming, tennis, badminton and paddling. Henry worked as an office clerk for four years, mainly at McLeod, Young, Weir and Co. Ltd from 1936 until enlistment in 1940. |
After enlisting on 13 September 1940, Henry found himself embarking for the U.K. on 15 September 1941. He arrived at 3PRC on 29 September 1941, 19 OTU 14 December 1941, and 419 Squadron on 25 February 1942. |
