Miscellaneous Information
Jack was born on 27 May 1923 in Toronto. His father was head of a Booking Department and both parents were born in Toronto where they lived in Old Orchard Grove. He had a younger brother, Robert Edward. He attended John Wanless School between 1929-1936 (General Entrance) and Lawrence Park Collegiate 1936-1941 (Senior Matric). He attained High School Entrance, Junior Matric and part Senior Matric. Between 1940-1942 Jack worked as a clerk at Loblaw’s Ltd. The sports Jack took part in were football, hockey, baseball and golf. |
Jack enlisted on 17 February 1942 and after initial training was posted to the U.K. He embarked on 26 January 1943, arriving in England and 3 PRC on 5 February 1943. |

Operation | Frankfurt. 409 aircraft including three B-17s. 11 losses, including one B-17 (2.5%). This was the last raid where American aircraft were involved. Clear weather led to good marking and extensive destruction to the eastern half of the city and the inland docks. Tragically, an orphanage housed in a former Jewish hospital suffered a direct hit resulting in the death of 90 children, 14 nuns and some other members of staff |
