Miscellaneous Information
Edward was born in Toronto on 28 December 1923. His father was an Accountant and both parents were born in Toronto, Ontario. He had two sisters Barbara Leslie and Jean. He had been educated at Bowmanville Public School, Bowmanville and then at Keele Street Public School in Toronto between 1938-1939 (grade 8). Edward’s sporting interests were racing and hill climbing and his hobby was motorcycling. He worked three months in 1939 as an operator for Viceroy Rubber Company, and as a trucker for Dominion Bridge 1941-1942. During 1942 he spent some time as a helper at English & Mould Ltd., and as a driver at City-Wide Delivery. |
Edward enlisted on 16 December 1942 and after initial training embarked from Halifax for the U.K. on 24 November 1943. He arrived at 3(RCAF) PRC on 2 December 1943, 12 OTU 11 January 1944, 31 Base 7 April 1944, 115 Sqn 6 June 1944 and 7 Squadron on 24 October 1944. Edward very sadly lost his life the following year on 5 April 1945. |
