Translation "Two aircraft - an Avro Lancaster bomber and a Messerschmitt came down near here in the early hours of March 30, 1943, with the loss of all the lives The Avro Lancaster W4327 UV-S of the RAAF 460 Sqn took off from RAF Breighton in Yorkshire for a bombing raid on Berlin. On its return it was attacked above Kloosterhaar by a German nightfighter Messerschmitt Bf 110 4668 G9+AR of the 7./NJG 1 Squadron, flown by pilot Unteroffizier C. Koltringer with radio operator Unter-offizier W. Vogt. Both planes were severely damaged during this action and both crashed" |
