Miscellaneous Information
John was born at Mono Road Station, Ontario on 10 JulY 1921. His father was born in London, England, and was a Dairy farmer. His mother was born in Hertfordshire, England. He attended Public School, 1928-1934, Caledon East 1934-1936 and Kemptville Agricultural School 1936-1938. His sport interests were basketball, baseball, and badminton and he enjoyed woodwork and mechanics. He worked for his father on his dairy farm (Rambleside Farms) at Mono Roads. |
After enlisting on 9 September 1940 and early training he embarked from Canada for the U.K. on 20 July 1941. He arrived at 3PRC on 31 July, then went to 2 Signal School 16 August 1941, 22 OTU on 25 November 1941, and then 150 Squadron on 7 May 1942. Sadly, John lost his life the following month on 5 June 1942. |
