Miscellaneous Information
Neil was born at Toronto, Ontario on 25 April 1922. His father was a chef and both parents were born in Toronto. He had six brothers Gerald, William, John, Edward, Frederick and Joseph and four sisters Mrs. Edna Hatch, Mrs. Marie Manning, Eleanor and Catherine. The school he attended was Holy Name in Toronto between 1927-1937. Basketball and hockey were his sporting interests. Neil worked as a Porter for Liggetts Drugs between 1937-1939, a Lathe hand for Dominion Electric 1939-1940 and again as a Lathe hand for Amalgamated Electric between 1940-1942 . |
After enlisting on 11 September 1942 and having completed his training in Canada, Neil embarked for the U.K. on 16 July 1943. He arrived at 3PRC on 23 July 1943 and went on to 24 OTU on 3 August 1943 and 1664 CU on 21 October 1943. Sadly, Neil was to lose his life just a few weeks later on 22 November 1943. |
