Miscellaneous Information
Robert was born on 21 April 1918 at Lincoln County, Ontario. His father was a paper maker, born in Thorold and his mother was born in England. (His parents divorced and he later had a half sister, June Stapley). He attended Thorold High School 1933-1938. Robert enjoyed sports including golf, skiing, boating and hunting. He worked as a fourth hand on a paper machine at Provincial Paper Ltd. |
Robert enlisted on 11 December 1940 and after training embarked for the U.K. where he arrived at 3 PRC on 7 October 1941. He then went to 20 OTU on 4 November 1941 and on to 214 Squadron 28 June 1942. Sadly on 14 September 1942, Robert lost his life. |
