Miscellaneous Information
Bernard was born at Red Deer , Alberta, on 22 June 1917. His father was a retired railway conductor, born at Ingersoll, Ontario and his mother was born at Douglas, Ontario. The school he attended was St. Joseph Convent 1924-1933 followed by Red Deer High, 1935-1938. His hobby was shooting and the sports he enjoyed were rugby, hockey, golf and swimming. Bernard worked as a clerk at Dominion Fruit. Company, 1938-1940. |
He enlisted on 31 January 1941 and after training he was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Canada on 2 February 1942, arriving at 3 PRC on 20 February 1942. He was then at 1 AAS 29 March 1942, 7 AGS 16 May 1942, and 102 Squadron 25 May 1942. Sadly Bernard was then to lose his life on 30 July 1942. |
