Albert was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on 28 December 1921. His parents were both born in Glasgow, Scotland and his father was an engineer. He had a brother William McKee Jnr. and two sisters Catherine and Mae. The schools he attended were Fort Rouge 1927-1932, Gladstone 1932-1935 and Earl Grey 1935-1937. He achieved High School Entrance and Jnr. Matric. The sports he was involved in were. baseball, basketball, hockey, boxing and track and he enjoyed telegraphy. For work he spent two years as a clerk with a piano company and another year as a clerk at an iron works. |
Albert enlisted on 8 April 1941 and after training embarked from Halifax for the U.K. on 22 October 1943. He arrived at 3 (RCAF) PRC on 31 October 1943, 1666 CU 16 November 1943 and 408 Squadron on 6 March 1944. Sadly, Albert was to lose his life on 29 July 1944. |

Operation | Hamburg. 307 aircraft. German night-fighters appeared on the return leg leading to 22 losses (7.2%). This was the first raid on Hamburg for a year and was not well concentrated. The Germans were unable to determine the aiming point from the bombing results. Most of the bombs fell on areas devastated during 1943. |
