George was born at Toronto on 11 July 1920. Both parents were born in England and his father was a Provision merchant. He had three sisters. Two were married and Audrey was still at home. The schools he attended were John Fisher 1926-1933 (entrance) Public, and North Toronto Collegiate Institute, 1933- 1939 (Jnr Matric). His sport interests were football, basketball, baseball, track and swimming. He enjoyed flying and building models. |
George enlisted on 1 July 1940 and after training embarked for the U.K. He arrived at 3 PRC on 6 March 1941, then went to 13 OTU 10 March 1941, and 139 Squadron on 14 May 1941. Sadly only days later he lost his life on 25 May 1941. |
