Miscellaneous Information
Marvin was born at Edmonton, Alberta on 21 July 1917. His father was a shipper, born in Hatchely, Ontario, and his mother was born in Donegal, Ireland. He went to Brantford and Simcoe Public Schools in Winnipeg, 1923-1930 and then to Simcoe High and Oakwood Collegiate Institute 1930-1935. (He gained his Jnr. Matric). He also attended Central Technical School 1937-1938 to study the theory of flight, aeroplane mechanics.etc. He had undertaken previous service at R.C.C.S (N.P) Toronto, Signalman 1937-1939. The sports he enjoyed were swimming, rugby, hockey as well as Archery and hunting. He worked as a fruit manager for several years including the Stop & Shop Company and Powerfood Markets. |
After enlisting on 11 May 1940 and early training, he arrived in the U.K. on 7 February 1941 then went to 20 OTU 16 February 1941 and 9 Squadron on 17 May 1941. He sadly lost his life from there on 9 July 1941. |
