Miscellaneous Information
James was born at Port Rowan, Ontario on 1 June 1916. His father was a physician, born in Uxbridge and his mother was born in Walsingham. He had two siblings: William and Barbara. The schools he attended were the local St. George Public School in Port Rowan 1922, followed by St. George Continuation. He also took a course in Refrigeration and Air conditioning at the Utilities engineering Institute. His hobbies were building radios and aerial photography and he enjoyed track and field events, fishing, hunting, tennis and softball. He was a good amateur photographer and played a good game of hockey. |
He worked as a salesman for a few months in 1938 and then for about six months with J. E. Evans of Walsingham in 1939 before enlisting on 2 July 1940. After James arrived in the U.K. at 3PRC he went to 2 Signal School on 3 May 1941, 12 OTU 1 July 1941 and 405 Squadron on 7 October 1941. He was to lose his life from there on 10 August 1942. |
