| Douglas was born on the 9th October 1918, resided at 68 Stoneleigh Avenue, Coventry. He was a pupil at Bablake School for six years from 1929 to 1935. He was employed as a auctioneer and estate agent with Frederick G. Robinson until enlisting in September 1939. 'The Wheatleyan', December 1940 to July 1941 stated "he was reported as missing whilst piloting a bomber over the North Sea". The Freeman's Admission Court on the 4th March 1941 lists him as being given the Freedom of the City. A retrospective note added 'Reported Missing' as he was posted as missing locally on 3 March 1941, it is also known he took part in the Wilhelmshaven raids. |
| Brother of Henry Dennis (born 1913) and Joan Beddow (1921). Older Brother Henry was also a pre-War Sgt Pilot in the Reserve. 60511 (740244) F/L Henry Dennis Beddow stayed in the Service until 1958 retiring with the rank Squadron Leader. |
