Miscellaneous Information
Joseph was born on 28 June 1920 at St. Rose de Watford, Québec. His father was born in St. Germaine and worked as a car mechanic and his mother was born at St. Rose de Watford, Québec. The school he attended was No.1. B. St. Rose 1926-1936 (commercial course), in County Dorchester, Québec. He worked for one year sawing wood, three years as a labourer and mining for another year. He enjoyed skiing, gymnastics and photography. |
Joseph enlisted on 11 July 1941 and after training was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Canada on 1 May 1942 arriving at 3PRC on 14 May then proceeded to 402 Squadron 11 June 1942, 1664 CU 13 November 1943, 433 Squadron 12 January 1944. Sadly Joseph lost his life on 23 April 1944. |

Operation | Düsseldorf. 596 aircraft, 29 losses (4.9%). 2150 tones of bombs were dropped, causing considerable damage, mainly to the northern districts. 56 large industrial premises were hit, of which 7 were destroyed. More than 2000 homes were destroyed, 883 people killed and 593 injured, although these figures were compiled before all the missing had been dug out. |
