Operation | Homberg- to attack the Meerbeck oil plant. 160 Lancasters, all from 3 Group. 3 aircraft lost. Bombing was initially scattered but became very concentrated, leading to the most successful raid so far on this oil plant. |
Reason for Loss | Kenneth was born on 27 January 1921 in Saskatchewan. His father was a farmer and born in Iowa, USA and his mother in North Dakota. Kenneth was one of seven children, having one brother Marvin and sisters Anna, Edith, Doris, Helen and Jean. He went to Coal Creek School, Killdeer, 1928-1937 (Grade 8) and also 1937-1940 for Grade 12. He passed Junior Matric and part Senior. In 1940-1942 he took on odd jobs as a farm labourer. The sports Kenneth took part in were baseball, skating, basketball, and skiing. |
