Miscellaneous Information
Born on 10 June 1924 in Preeceville, Saskatchewan. Both parents were born in Norway and his father had been a carpenter. He had three brothers, Axel, Alfred and Melvin, and two sisters, Esther and Clara. Two other siblings had died, Mabel, at the age of sixteen and her brother Arthur. Clifford went to Beaver Bluff School, Saskatchewan 1931-1940 and Preeceville, Sask. 1940-1941 where he attained grade 1X (9). Clifford worked for Flock Bakery, Flin Flon, as a delivery boy, 1941-1941, Ostry Department Store in Flin Flon as a Warehouse boy, 1941-1943 and with Bates Valve Bag Company as a Tuber helper, 1942-1943. |
Clifford enlisted on 14 July 1943 and after initial training embarked from Halifax on 3 May 1944 for the U.K. He arrived at 3 PRC on 11 May, 20 OTU 6 June , 41 Base 8 September 1944 and 102 Squadron on 20 December 1944. He was killed just over two weeks later. |
The sports he was involved in were hockey and softball. |
