Miscellaneous Information
George was born on 27 December 1916 at Milly, Saskatchewan. Both parents were born in Syria. His father is a farmer and his mother deceased by the time of George's enlistment. The school he attended was Varsity S.D No.3078, 1921-1933 (grade 10). He was at home between 1933-1937 working on the family farm and then worked as a clerk for Tidey & Son, Saskatchewan, between 1937-1944. His enjoyed his sports and his interests were baseball, hockey, curling etc. |
He enlisted on 28 August 1941 and after training embarked for the U.K. on 11 December 1942. After arriving at 3PRC on 19 December 1942 he went to 2 (0) AFU 1 January 1943, 22 OTU 23 February 1943, 1659 CU 25 April 1943 and finally 408 Squadron on 15 May 1943. On 23 May, just a few days later, George was sadly killed. |
