Miscellaneous Information
Alexander was born at Millbrook, Ontario on 28 June 1918. His father, a dealer in musical instruments, was born in Millbrook but died in 1928 and his mother was born in Ripley, Ontario. He had three sisters, Margaret, Esther and Mary and also three brothers Gordon, Norman and Roderick. He attended Millbrook Public School 1923-1931 (Jnr. Matric) and Millbrook High 1931 -1935. His sport interests were tennis, badminton and swimming. Alexander worked for six years in banking from 1935 onwards He started as a Junior and ledger keeper, to Ledger Keeper and Teller and then Teller Accountant. |
He enlisted on 22 January 1942 and after initial training was posted to the U.K. He trained at 4(0)AFU and then went on to 23 OTU on 22 June 1943, then 1664 CU 9 September 1943, 419 Sqn 1 October 1943 and 405 Squadron 25 January 1944. It was from there that Alexander sadly lost his life on 11 June 1944. |
