Miscellaneous Information
Inspired by Lionel’s heroism his brother, Gerry Anderson, went on to write ‘Thunderbirds’, which was almost certainly named after the 1942 propaganda film Thunder Birds since Lionel and many of his cohort of trainee pilots were used as extras in the film during their time in Arizona. Lionel even became friends with Preston Foster, who played the leading role in the film, and who later invited him for a tour of the studios in Hollywood. It is said that Scott Tracy from the TV show was modelled on Lionel. |
