Reason for Loss | Shot down by a night-fighter (Ju 88) at 1200', setting light to the fuel tanks and both inner engines. F/O R G Todd was able to bale out and then the aircraft was attacked for a second time. Crashed ENE of Fakenham, Norfolk P/O E D Roberts (the pilot) and Sgt K A Sutcliffe (the mid-upper gunner) were dragged to safety. The pilot was very badly burned and was not medically discharged until 1947 |
