Miscellaneous Information
Floyd was born on 20 December 1922 at Battrum, Saskatchewan. His father, a pensioner, was born at High Bluff, Manitoba and his mother at Westbourn, Manitoba. He attended Punnichy Public school 1929-1938 followed by Punnichy High 1938-1940 (Junior Matric), Grade 10. His sport interests were hockey, basketball, tennis and swimming. As Floyd was still a student he had worked only as a general labourer until enlisting on 9 May 1941. At some point his mother Mary Ellen Anderson had died and Floyd now had a mother Harriet Ann Anderson. She is, however sometimes shown as a foster mother in the records. |
After his enlistment and early training, Floyd embarked from Canada on 28 October 1942 and arrived at 3PRC on 5 November 1942. He then went to 23 OTU 17 November 1942, 1659 CU 10 March 1943, and 405 Squadron 29 March 1943. Sadly Floyd lost his life a short time after arrival on 7 April 1943, aged only twenty. |
