Clarence was born on 4 July 1922 at Elstow, Saskatchewan. His parents were born in Frankstown, Ontario and his father was an interior decorator and carpenter. He had a brother Orville. He attended Elstow School 1928-1936 (grade 8) and again between 1936-1940 (grade 10). He then studied Aircraft Mechanics 1940-1941. The sports he enjoyed were hockey and baseball. He had two short time jobs working as a butchers helper for 2 months and then a harvester for Mr. Finlay for 4 months. |
Clarence enlisted on 16 April 1941 and after initial training embarked from Halifax on 20 January 1944. He arrived at 3 PRC on 1 February 1944, 144 A.F.H.Q 13 February 1944. 6442 S.E 1 May 1944, 61 Base 9 August 1944. |
