Miscellaneous Information
James was born 5 November 1918 and attended Primary school 1926 - 1931 followed by Rockyford and Calgary and he then taught at Blue Ridge, Alberta, between 1939 and 1941 before enlisting. He had also served with the 49th Regiment, Camrose for a few weeks between October and November 1940. His father was an employee of the Canadian Pacific Railway. He had six siblings, brothers Richard, Jack and Stanley and sisters, Jean Fay and Ruth. |
James enlisted on 25 July 1941 and after early training he embarked for England on 7 August 1942. After disembarking in the U.K. on 18 August 1942 he went through 3 ARC, 1(0)AFU, 22OTU and finally reaching 428 Squadron on 10 January 1943. |
The sports James enjoyed were skating, soft ball, baseball and swimming and be liked reading as a hobby. |
