Op 23 Juli 1942 werd de Short Stirling bommenwerper van het 149 Sqn (RAF Bomber Command Royal Air Force gevlogen door F/O AL Bowes (RAF Volunteer Reserve), uitgezonden voor een bombardementsmissle op een doel te Duisburg. In de vroege ochtend van 24 juli
Translation "On 23 July 1942, the Short Stirling bomber of 149 Sqn (RAF Bomber Command Royal Air Force) flown by F/O AL Bowes (RAF Volunteer Reserve), was sent out for a bombing mission on a target in Duisburg. In the early morning of 24 July above Oss the plane was intercepted by a German nightfighter, after which the plane crashed on a plot of land between Koksteeg and Weerscheut in Vinkel, crew members for their lives" |
