Robert was born at Winnipeg, Manitoba on 11 August 1919. He had a brother Archibald but then his mother died in 1926. His father re-married Jean Stephenson in 1929 and a half brother Gerald was born. His brother Archibald is shown as being in RCAF at RAF Middle East Forces. Robert had worked as a mechanic. |
After he enlisted and had undertaken initial training in Canada, he embarked for the U.K. and arrived at 3PRC on 2 March 1941. He then went to 20 OTU on 14 March 1941, 1 S.S. 4 April 1941 and 19 OTU 10 May 1941. |
