Miscellaneous Information
Born 13 November 1915 South Benfleet, Essex. His parents were both born in London and had married in Paddington in 1907. The family emigrated to Canada on 16 July 1919 aboard the SS Sicilian sailing from London to Quebec, Gerald had been working as a lumberjack, he enjoyed playing Baseball, Hockey & Tennis, he married Violet Virginia Powers on 25 December 1941 in Swalwell, Alberta, the ceremony was conducted by Reverend M.J. Fitzpatrick. |
This was the crew's tenth operation and ED703's second. All were buried with full military honours in Fürstenfeldbruck Cemetery on 13 March and the German authorities provided the photograph of the ceremony via the International Red Cross for the benefit of the crew's families. They were re-interred after the war in Durnbach. |
He retained his British citizenship accoridng to his enlistment papers. |
