Miscellaneous Information
Clarence was born at Cobalt, Ontario on 9 December 1924. His father was born at Kingston and worked as a Carpenter and his mother born at Schumacher, Ontario. He had a brother Lyman and two sisters, Marguerite and Lois. Another child, Charles, died July 1939. The schools Clarence went to were Leland Public 1930- 1938 ( Entrance) and then two years of High School work, 1938-1940. (High School Entrance and 2 years- Jnr. Matric). His sport interests were baseball swimming and hockey and his hobby was building model aeroplanes. Clarence worked as a labourer. He had eight months at an Aluminium Company then four months as a handyman, followed by six months working as a painter for a Mr. Smith |
He enlisted on 27 November 1942 and after training embarked from Halifax on 30 March 1944. He arrived at 3 RCAF PRC on 8 April 1944, 18 OTU 9 May 1944, 11 Base 29 July 1944 and 166 Squadron on 28 September 1944. Very sadly Clarence lost his life on 31 December 1944, shortly after his 20th birthday. |
