Reason for Loss | Aircraft came down in the target area. The aircraft navigator Navigator Harry Church was interviewed before he died (approx. 2014). He stated that Norman was an outstanding pilot but he knew before he flew that due to his size he would never be able to escape through the hatch if they were hit. He held on to the aircraft as his crew bailed out, it exploded shortly afterward. |
