Miscellaneous Information
Maldwyn was born in Bettws y Coed Montgomeryshire, Wales on 18 October 1916. His parents had married in Rhos, Wales and his father was a Presbyterian Minister. He had one brother William Ivor, who was a Sergeant Pilot, and one sister. He went to various schools in the USA between 1923 -1927 before attending the University of Toronto 1934-1938 where he obtained his B.A. degree and also Knox College to study Theology. Maldwyn worked in Ontario Dept.of Education as a junior clerk May-October 1936, and Presbyterian Chuch in Canada as a student Missionary. Then, Mahone Bay 1937-1938, New Glasgow, in 1939 and Buck’s Falls, Ontario from April 1940 onwards as a Presbyterian Minister. He was also a cadet in the C.O.T.C. 1939-1940. |
He enlisted on 21 August 1940 and after early training was posted to the U.K. He arrived at 3PRC on 21 September 1941, 22 OTU on 28 October 1941 and 103 Squadron on 7 May 1942. He lost his life just twelve days later. |
The sports he was involved in were soccer, wrestling, tennis, hockey and indoor baseball. Amateur photography was his hobby. |
