Miscellaneous Information
Gordon was born in Brandon, Manitoba on 7 July 1921. His father was born in Markham Township, Ontario and he was a Market Gardener and his mother was born in Strathroy, Ontario. He had a brother William John who was at Camp Borden and two sisters. The schools he attended were Central School 1927-1933 (General), Earl Haig High School and Brandon Collegiate 1933-1937 (General). High School Entrance and Jnr. Matric. (all in Brandon). His sport interest were skating and cycling and he also took part In softball and basketball. Gordon was also interested in telegraphy and morse code. Between 1937 and 1941 Gordon worked as a warehouseman for one year, a messenger for C.P.R Telegraphs and as a shoe clerk, all in Brandon. |
Gordon enlisted on 18 November 1940 and after training embarked for the U.K. He arrived at 3PRC on 14 November 1941, 1 Signal School 23 December 1941 and 10 OTU on 24 March 1942. Sadly Gordon lost his life from here on 26 June 1942. |
