Miscellaneous Information
Harold was born at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on 8 March 1913. His father was born at Harold, Ontario and worked as a baggage man for CPR and his mother was born in Hamilton, Ontario. The schools he attended were Westmount, Public 1920-1927; Bedford Road Collegiate 1930-1934 (Matric); University of Saskatchewan (1935-1939) - Arts and agriculture & dairy husbandry. His sport interests were many but his favourites were rugby, hockey, baseball and golf and his hobby was hunting. Harold worked at Palm Dairies in Saskatoon during the months of May-September 1936-1938 where he was an ice cream maker, grader and tester. He then worked at Union Dairies, Calgary between April and December 1939. |
He enlisted on 17 July 1940 and after training embarked for the U.K. where he arrived at 3PRC on 7 June 1941. He then went on to 16 OTU on 14 June 1941, and 144 Squadron 4 September 1941. Just over two weeks later, on 20 September, Harold very sadly lost his life. |
