Jack was born on 21 November 1918 at Staffordshire, England. Both parents were born in Staffordshire, England and his father worked as a sewing machine operator. He had one brother Thomas Eric. The schools he attended were MacLean Public, 1925-33 and then Rossland High School,1933- 1936. Both British Columbia. He had a 30 day course training with the Rocky Mountain Rangers at Vernon, B.C. Jack enjoyed a variety of sports including golf, fencing, swimming and basketball and his hobby was hunting. He worked for C.M & S. Company as a Zinc Electrolytic Tester from 1936 onwards until enlisting, which he did on 7 June 1941(a mining and smelting company). |
After finishing his training in Canada, Jack embarked for the U.K. After arriving at 3PRC on 30 July 1942, he went to 19 OTU on 21 September 1942, 1661 CU 29 December 1942 and 97 Squadron 4 March 1943. Sadly he was to lose his life later that month on 29 March 1943. |
