Miscellaneous Information
Robert was born 17 November 1923 at Saskatchewan. His father was born in Glasgow, Scotland and was a farmer and his mother was born in Lincoln, England. She very sadly died the month after Robert was born. His place of birth is shown as 10-13-16-3.Sask. There were no other siblings. He attended Wilhelmina Schools between 1930 and 1938. The sports he engaged in were softball, skating and racing. Between 1938-1941 Robert was needed at home on the farm at Duncairn, Saskatchewan and then worked as a Wiper for CPR at Swift Current, Saskatchewan 1 between 1941 and 1942. |
He enlisted on 3 August 1942 and after training Robert was posted to the U.K. He embarked from Halifax on 25 March 1944, arriving at 3 (RCAF) PRC on 3 April 1944. He was then at 9(0) AFU. 25 April 1944, 28 OTU on 28 August 1944, and 153 Squadron on 29 October 1944. Sadly he was reported missing on 15 March 1945. |
